Karen obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from Marymount College of Fordham University and a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Arkansas. Karen is a Licensed Certified Social Worker with Advanced Certification in Hospice and Palliative Care. She is an EMDR trained, Safe and Sound Protocol Certified, Polyvagal informed therapist. She previously served as a Hospice Bereavement Counselor providing innovative, contemporary, evidence-based therapeutic grief and trauma support, as well as bereavement education, to individuals, organizations, groups, and families within hospice and the NWA community. Karen founded The Sanctuary for Grief, Trauma & Life Transitions in Fayetteville to more broadly meet the emotional needs of the public.
Karen has been nominated for the Association for Death Education and Counseling Clinician of the Year award and the HPCAA Hospice Heart award. Karen has been a featured speaker at the National Hospice and Palliative Care conference, providing clinical education to hospice professionals on best practice in therapeutic interventions and supporting families. She is becoming a leading expert in Northwest Arkansas in providing grief, trauma, and bereavement interventions seeking to validate and normalize various types of life experiences. Karen looks forward to utilizing these skills within private practice to better meet the needs of the greater NWA community.
